The company Selter specializes in the design and manufacture of industrial magnetic applications; however, when it was founded in 1956 its main activity was limited to the manufacture of magnetic chucks. In the sixties, the range of chucks was extended with the addition of other magnetic and electromagnetic products. The company started to export its products in 1969, and as they have become more and more successful it now exports to Europe, Unites States and other American and Asian countries.
Selter has more than 45 years of experience in the manufacture of magnetic applications, guaranteeing the quality of its entire range of magnetic and electromagnetic products, which are mainly used in the machine-tools sector and in general industry. As well as these products, Selter also manufactures customized magnetic applications that perfectly adapt to the customer’s specific requirements. Selter’s commercial and technical staff are at your disposal for any enquiries you may have about its products. |

| Lifting Systems |
| Lifting Magnets |
Lifting magnets are used for lifting flat and cylindrical iron pieces, particularly in the following cases:
The magnetisation and demagnetisation is carried out by moving a lever. They are supplied with an instructions manual, control certificate and CE declaration of conformity. All the models are graded for a certain working load, which is 3 times less than the real load detachment force (safety coefficient = 3). The detachment force is calculated for a clean, smooth, flat, low-carbon steel plate with a greater thickness than the minimum. The factors that can influence the capacity of a lifting magnet must be taken into account. FACTORS INFLUENCING THE LIFTING FORCE OF A LIFTING MAGNET The Contact Surface: If the surface of the load is oxidised, it has burrs or has a rough finish the lifting force is reduced. Load Thickness: The capacities of the lifting magnets are given for a minimum load thickness. When this minimum is not maintained the lifting force is reduced. Length and Width of the Load: If the load has an excessive length or width, the ends start to bend and the piece is no longer flat, causing detachment, particularly for thin pieces. The Load Material: High-carbon steel or alloys with other materials lose their magnetic properties which reduces the lifting force. Certain heat treatments also reduce the lifting force. |
